Eating Out in Amsterdam

When you think of delicious food, Dutch cuisine is not usually high on the list. However, eating out in Amsterdam will change you opinion on Dutch food. Whether you are looking for a quick snack or a full meal, you are sure to find something you desire in this wonderful city.

Amsterdam is known for having a wide array of cafes. Cafe ‘t Smalle is on of the most popular cafes in the city of Amsterdam. It opened in 1780 and still has the old-world feel. It has stained glass windows and antique furniture, as well as a beautiful patio that overlooks the canal. The menu highlights many small plates including soups, salads and cheese tastings. It is the perfect location for a small snack or light meal.

When you look at the restaurant known as Bazar, you may think you are in the wrong place. The building that houses the restaurant resembles a church, but in reality it is home to this unique restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is as beautifully designed as the exterior. It has vintage chandeliers and church-like decorating that is absolutely breathtaking. The food is a mix of Middle-Eastern cuisine, Asian cuisine and African cuisine. The flavors used in the food is different then most of the other local restaurants which keeps patrons coming.

De Bijenkorf is a large department store that has a self-service restaurant located on the fifth floor. “The Kitchen” as the restaurant is so fittingly named, is very inexpensive, but offers delicious local foods. Sandwiches, soups, meats, cheeses, fish and sushi are all available in this easy-to-navigate eatery.

Vooges is a delicious and modern restaurant located in a fashionable part of town. The interior is ultra modern and the Mediterranean food is top quality. Vliegende Schotel is another unique restaurant that features a sleek look and mostly vegetarian and healthy food.

If you are in the mood for sushi you should visit Zushi restaurant. If you want Thai food, then go to Me Naam Naan and if you want Italian food go to Toscanini. No matter what type of ethnic cuisine you are in the mood for, you will be able to find a delicious and unique restaurant that offers it.
